Tales of Aravali Hills

Hey loves! If you’re craving a blend of wellness, adventure, and some soul-soothing vibes, my recent trip to Udaipur and the Aravali Hills might just be your next inspo. Picture this: serene luxury at Taj Aravali, stunning hidden spots, and culture-rich experiences that transport you. And yes, there’s a little tea on my shopping mishap—because no trip is ever too perfect, right?

The Taj Aravali Vibe: Peace, Luxury, and All the Feels

Let’s talk about the Taj Aravali Resort. Nestled between the majestic Aravali hills, this place has views that can fix any vibe. My room was HUGE—high ceilings, heritage-style decor, and an open bathtub where I could soak in exotic oils and bubble baths. It was the ultimate relaxation zone. Tall, well-lit walls adorned with unique art pieces made the room feel like a blend of heritage and modern bliss.

The first evening was just as magical. We got to enjoy a cultural performance by local artists at the property, Rajasthani cuisine, and champagne to toast the beginning of this adventure. But my explorer heart was ready to find those lesser-known gems around Udaipur.

Exploring Hidden Gems: Bahubali Lake & Beyond

Here’s my travel mantra: skip the usual crowded spots and go for those rarely touched places. The next morning, I mapped out a list of hidden spots starting with Bahubali Lake. We hired a local cabbie (₹2000 for the day), and I was set—rocking a floral linen gown, heritage earrings, and a ton of sunscreen (a must for that Rajasthan sun).

The drive to Bahubali was like a scene from an Imtiaz Ali movie—think rolling hills and endless lakes. The ticket to Bahubali Hills is just ₹10, and let me tell you, it’s the best ₹10 you’ll ever spend! The hike up is no joke, though; tricky, with steep rocks, so bring legit hiking shoes. The view from the top was totally worth it. I sat there, basking in the beauty of Bahubali Lake, soaking it all in. It was so peaceful, with only a handful of visitors around—ideal for some breathtaking photos!

On the way back, I made some new friends: a couple of goats and dogs who escorted me down. Gave them some water and said our goodbyes—it’s these little moments, ya know? Then came snack time with some insanely good bhel puri from a nearby thela (street vendor). Pure street-food heaven!

Shopping Snafus at Bapu Bazaar

After Bahubali, it was time for some local shopping. But my cab driver had other plans and took me to a massive four-story store. Not my vibe! I like shopping directly from small vendors, connecting with them, and hearing their stories. But this place felt rushed and insistent. I ended up buying beautiful Bandhani sarees and Ajrak kurtas (not cheap—₹47,000 later), but the experience left me missing that true local touch.

Note to self: trust my gut always.

Cultural Glow-Up at Bagore Ki Haveli

From there, we headed to Bagore Ki Haveli for a light show. If you’re ever in Udaipur, make time for this—tickets are just ₹150, and the performances are a beautiful dive into Rajasthan’s heritage. The vibe here felt so authentic, with music and dance that truly capture Rajasthani culture. Pro tip? Book your seats early, aim for the front rows, and pay the extra fee for camera access if you want to capture the magic!

Leaving the show, we snagged some pani puri from a nearby thela—a throwback to my childhood days. This sweet uncle with his little cart used to come by, serving up the best pani puri. The nostalgia hit hard!

Dinner at Upre: Lakeside & Laid-back

We ended the day at Upre, an iconic lakeside restaurant. We waited a bit for a table, but it was worth it. The view of the lake, paired with Udaipur’s street sounds in the background, felt alive. Our server made us feel like family, suggesting the best dishes and ensuring we felt welcomed, not just served. It’s that warmth in hospitality that stays with you, you know? That simple “I’m here for you” vibe that feels like a hug.

Wrapping Up in Style

After a day packed with beauty, culture, and a few surprises, I ended the night with my ultimate self-care ritual. I drew a bath with Forest Essentials luxury bubble bath, played some calming music, and took a short nap. Bliss!
